Summer Weather in the Fall - ?

Happy Weekend !

If you missed me last week - because I missed you! - the following "updates on the updates" is why I've made a career out of promoting the joy of miniature gardening. Word. 🤪

First, some fall Do's and Don'ts - then a bit of news...

Quick Fall To-Do's & Don'ts!

• Start to back-off on the watering. Now that the weather is getting a bit cooler, the plants won't need daily watering. Remember to let the soil dry out to barely-damp before watering again to avoid over-watering - however long that takes in your area. And, water in the morning.
• Remember that the best, handiest, free tool to find out if your pots or garden needs more water is your finger. You always know where to find it! 😆 Put your finger at least an inch down into the soil. If it's wet – wait. If it's dry – water.
• No fertilizer until next spring for the colder regions. We don't want to encourage any new growth - we want the plants to start to harden-off and prepare themselves for the winter.
• Wait to divide anything. It's a good rule of thumb to let the plants go dormant before dividing at this time of year if you're in the colder states - I think we're all having some kind of extended summer weather. So, maybe wait a few weeks before digging in.
• Fall a great time to plant too - ICYMI. More on this next week! 

Updates on the Updates:

• If you've tried to email me this week and couldn't get through - please try again. It was my bad - I can't even blame Steve for this one. Lol! Kidding. (🙄) 
• I had to update our Two Green Thumbs' online store after all, to keep up with all the other updates across the Internet. So, next Tuesday and/or Wednesday, you may find some hiccups with the site as I figure everything out. (🙄 I'd rather paint the house...🙄)
• BUT, it should be faster store, more fun to browse through, and more-phone-friendly. I found some a lot of gobblety-gook (<~ a tech term,😆) that was completely unnecessary - so that should help us too. Okay, that was my bad as well. Lol! (🙄🙄🙄) 

I thank the Great Almighty for miniatures and gardening. Lol! 🙏🏼

PHOTO AT TOP: I thought you would enjoy a little glimpse at my in-ground miniature garden, I usually show you the other side that's looks better. But, in this little garden bed can use some attention and some variety now. The Sedum spurium is getting sparse now that I've pushed the leggy stems back for the fall. And that's a Corokia tree that's in the background, next to the trellis. And more dwarf Mondo grass behind the Adirondack bench.

A PRETTY LIL' SCENE: This is where you can work on your interior design style. I like a little "matchy-matchy" (another technical term,) and chose the brown trellis and dog, to tie in with the patio furniture. Two design principles here: the "less is more," using the minimum amount of items to get the maximum effect. And the "rule of three," an asymmetrical pattern is aesthetically pleasing and memorable to us humans.
