Set Yourself Up for Next Season's FUN!

Happy Weekend !

As crafters, we must plan ahead and there is good reason! Too often, I'm guilty of waiting for the season to arrive before getting inspired - only to find there isn't enough time to work-out my inspired ideas. So... they just don't "get done!"

Which is just unacceptable. 😉

We have to give ourselves some time to flush out the idea, gather our materials, make it - a couple of weeks BEFORE the big day, so we can impress our friends and family with our genius. 

So, I've included some custom Halloween ideas I've done throughout the years to get your creative juices flowing. Think about decor for your front door pot, a centerpiece for a party or hostess gifts, placemat gifts or party favors. 

AND I hope you kept any accessories that faded or broke - they are PERFECT for customizing and adapting them to your spookiest ideas... heh, heh, heh... 👻

JACK SKELETON'S BROTHER: He lost his head! 🤯 I broke this guy's head off and thought a pumpkin head would give him a second chance. I drilled a hole down into his neck, drilled a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin and used a small rod to "pin" it together. I used Crazy Glue with a Super Glue Accelerator. 

AT TOP: Almost anything miniature can be customized. I spray painted the blue chairs, I staying the potting bench orange, and painted some lips and eyes on the pumpkin on the right. If you look closely at the brick I customized that as well by sanding the corners and then painting them. (The custom brick project is in the British chapter of my Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop Book.) And, of course, I had to customize my (fake) nails too. 💅

NOT SURE WHAT TO CALL THIS: Lol! I forget what the trunk was before I broke it - I think it was a from a wishing well. The skull is a bead. The birdhouse is made from wood and painted, and the mini pumpkin is one that we sell in our online store. Again, all three minis were drilled and pinned to the trunks with a rod to stay strong. If you don't take this step and pin them together, they'll fall apart in the weather. I drilled and staked the bottom of the trunk to help it stand and stay put.

CUSTOM SKELETON BIRDBATH: A broken birdbath was the catalyst for this idea. The skull is a big bead I found at a thrift/antique store. The trick is to drill a hole into the two broken ends of the birdbath, then, using a small pin or rod, glue the bead together in the middle. Hide any oozing glue with bits of moss or sand.
