Tip 'o' the Week: How to Find More Time
I need to listen to myself more often because I just did this yesterday and I was reminded of how well it works. It's how I give myself my creative time without feeling guilty about not taking care of the chores. And, you know you can easily fill up your long weekend doing chores
unless you deliberately plan for creative play time. So, here's a way to do both.
It's called Parkinson's Law and it states that "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion." Which means that if think it's going to take all day to do a big chore, it will. If you think it should take only three hours, it'll take
three hours. And, right there, you've just found some time to play.
Try it. Time yourself. It works like a charm. You have to be reasonable though. If you know that the task can't possibly be done in only 2 hours, give yourself some more time or break the chore up into two different 2-hour shifts to get it done. Who says any chore
has to be done all at once? 😊
