Hi !
Can you tell I'm eager for a break? Lol! I hope this finds you safe and enjoying your pre-Thanksgiving
weekend!
You might recognize today's miniature garden, it's from 2015. That is a Pixie Dwarf Alberta Spruce behind the scarecrow, and a Pusch Dwarf Norway Spruce to his right. Both are hardy to -20F - I think the Norway Spruce is even hardier.

Miniature Garden Winter Maintenance Tips and Insights:
- Prep for extreme
weather: For dips in temperature, you can use upside-down poly pots, plastic or cloth sheets, burlap bags. Here more on winterizing pots or in-ground gardens.
- Winter weeds are easy to pull and you'll save yourself
a LOT of weeding next spring.
- Remember to clean up any fallen leaves from your miniature gardens and keep your gardens neat for that first snowfall for a photo opportunity. It'll make a great party invite or holiday/Christmas card!
- Watch
for any outdoor pots that are under the eaves or on the porch - they will need watering...
- Look for waterproof garden gloves at your local hardware store or garden center. I finally found some last winter that were made for women, and they can keep you gardening in the winter. Turn them inside-out and throw them in the wash when they get too
smelly.
