Happy Summer, !
Now that the holidays and heatwaves are behind us - for now - it's time to get serious.
Kidding!
That's so not my job.
I hope this finds you enjoying the summer wherever you are. :o)
PHOTO ABOVE: That's the Loowit Canada Hemlock - a really stunner! It will keep that overall shape and growth pattern while it grows into a majestic tree in miniature.
Today's Tip:
Watch your watering in the heat. Just because it's hot out, doesn't necessarily mean you have to water all the time. Often times, overwatering is more detrimental than under-watering as the plant's roots need to breathe too. If the soil is constantly wet, the air doesn't get through to the roots.
(This is why you see the roots of big, full-sized trees come up to through your lawn, sidewalk or driveway.)
Make it a habit to check if the soil needs watering before you turn on the hose or grab the water can. Sometimes you can see if the soil is wet, it'll be a different color than when it's dry. But to be sure, poke
your finger at least 1" down into the soil and if it's dry or barely damp, water. If it's wet, wait a day and check again.
