Hi ! I hope
this finds you miniature gardening! :o) I hope this finds you safe and happily gardening in miniature! Our hearts go out to all those who are impacted
by the wildfires in eastern Canada and the Northeast US. We get a couple/few weeks of smokey skies here in the PNW almost every year and I know it's not too fun. I've been praying for some breakthroughs in better technology to fight these fires as well as for the safety of all, of course. Thankfully, with our beloved hobby of miniature gardening, there is always something to play with or to do, even if you are stuck indoors. Read on for some ways to dig deeper into your mini garden hobby below. INSIGHT: From my experience, the
wildfire smoke will not harm your plants. If you're in an area where there is ash and residue is collecting on your plant's leaves, be sure to wash it off with a gentle spray from the hose. Plants breathe and collect the sunshine for their photosynthesis through their leaves. If they are dusty or dirty, it will eventually harm the plant, (but I'm not sure how long that will take so you probably have some leeway here - there is no urgency.) Still looking for feedback: ~>> I'm trying a simpler format for this Gazette, I'm getting complaints that it's too big and takes too long to open. I guess I have too much to share - and this is getting long again. Lol! :o) Feedback is always welcome - just hit reply! Happy Weekend! Whatever you do make it fun, Janit

Got a specific theme for your miniature garden? Time to customize! You can see from the above photo that I painted the chair and the fence in the rainbow colors to honor our LGBTQIA+ friends and family for
Pride Month this month. It certainly makes everything pop! For plain wood - Prime it first with white paint, then paint your color on. If you skip the primer/white, the colors won't be as fresh and vivid. Are your accessories worn out? Remember you can paint almost any miniature that is faded to give it another life and recycle. I love acrylic paint for my customizing, it's water-clean-up, not expensive, comes in a wide variety of colors and you can find it in any craft store. Find out how to age and weather any miniature to look like it's been in your miniature garden forever. I have instructions in my Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop book OR, find even MORE customizing ideas and techniques in the Miniature Garden
Society. ICYMI - We have a new level of membership for ONLY $35 a year (that's $2.92 per month!!)- it's like a living, growing book that you can access anytime
that has videos, a forum and lotsa photos! Dig Deeper into the Hobby: Spring registration is closing soon.
