Hi
, I hope this finds you safe, well, and savoring these summer days! I haven't been able to do much this past couple of weeks. But I'm here to report that here is good news, and a "little" bad news BUT it's getting better every day. The "little" bad
news is I need to back-off from the computer to let the tendonitis in my arm heal - and it's feeling better every day. Which means I'm short on the blog this week and you may have noticed I missed you last week. But I'm grateful it happened during our slowest season, nonetheless. The good news is that I found some new ideas, (for the fairy gardeners too!) I filmed a bunch of video and literally planted some future kits for this fall, which I'm excited about about! Stay tuned! Today's Tip:
When watering in the middle of summer, we tend to feel the need to water every day. I'm guilty of this too. It's hot out so water the plants often, right? But it's important to pay attention to the soil's needs which, in turn, depends upon the plant's
needs. We want to feed the roots, not drown them and oftentimes, overwatering is more damaging than under-watering. And, the best way to judge the water content of your soil, wether it's in-ground or in a container, is to "stick your finger in
it." - If it's barely damp, like wrung-sponge-damp, water.
- If it's wet or moist, wait. Check again tomorrow.
- If you've been watering constantly, think about not watering on the next overcast day to let the soil dry out a bit. it'll give the plants a break.
I'm here if you have any questions, just hit

Suspended Animation - ?I'm not sure
what I expected, but, after I thought about it, I'm almost sure it can't be replicated exactly in miniature: a floating flamingo pool-toy. But it's solid resin and so not "inflatable." I had found it a couple of years ago at a craft store, I think. I guess I always assumed it would float, until I
got it out of the package and held it in my hands. It was heavy! Lol! What was I thinkin'? So, Steve brought up this solution: I found my thickest-gauge floral wire and fashioned a spring-like holder for the flamingo, so it would perch at water level. I wound the wire the same circumference as the flamingo, and made the spring the same depth as the water. It took a couple of tries
and tweaking of the wire to get it right. I found the head of the flamingo made the weight uneven and the flamingo kept nose-diving into the pond. (Maybe looking for food? 🦩) So, to account for the uneven weight on the wire, I had to make one side slightly higher than the other and it worked. Now I can "float" the day away with my miniature garden! 🦩 A Big Miniature Garden Thank You!
