Are You Ready for the Summer? Happy Belated Solstice ! I hope this find you safe, well and enjoying your miniature garden hobby! It's been a busy spring for us here at Miniature Garden World Headquarters and we're just starting to get into the summer routine of checking our gardens every day, and watering every couple of days, which brings me to today's tip! TODAY'S TIP: Get into the habit of looking at your gardens every day to check for weeds, note any changes and to monitor the watering. It shouldn't take but a minute or five, considering the size of your garden. I say every day because you probably won't be able to do it each and every day because life gets in the way. But that's why I suggest you do it everyday. Lol! ~> You
see, if you end-up missing a day here and there - you'll STILL be able to stay on top of your gardening - and, you won't wake up at 2:15am wondering if your miniature garden needs watering or not. Sound familiar?? TODAY'S GARDEN SCENE: I still love this little scene (taken around
2007) with the Jervis Canada Hemlock standing tall - even though that kid's fort on the right is constantly mistaken for an outhouse.
(Insert a big 'DOH!" here! I made it the same shape...!! :o) I think that pot was around 12" square. The Jervis Hemlock is one of "those trees" that naturally grow into a very awesome miniature tree and we heart it a LOT. <3 We just got in a few of the now-rare Jervis Canada Hemlock as well as a few
weird and wonderful trees that we haven't had in a while, and some new accessories too. See what's new and back in stock here. Happy Weekend! Whatever you do make it fun, Janit I said I would give you details on this miniature garden this week but I had forgotten that I highlighted it back in mid-April in another Mini Garden Gazette if you want to see more. It's also the same garden
shown in the masthead on the top of this Gazette, from 2017. The first photo above, is from June of '21. The second photo was taken last week, June of '23, for Dad's Day. That is a Variegated English Boxwood planted with Dwarf Mondo Grass on the left, and a a new plant that I've been trying to kill testing for us, it's the saxifrage on the right with the burgundy
leaves. (We have this tree in a complete, indoor-outdoor miniature garden kit here.) INSIGHT: I'm not sure if you can see that the leaves are turning a bit orange. It's turning during the growing period, which means stress. (Some boxwoods turn a bit orange in the winter.) I know I'm watering it enough and it's getting enough light so we can deduce that it's neither of those things
that is making it complain... BUT what I do know is that it's not a big pot and the boxwood as been in there since 2017 - that's 6 years! It's time to repot! Which really means I get to play with another miniature garden idea... :o) Do note that I was able to enjoy this little scene for 6 years! Nice return on my investment, huh?
