All Hail the Pumpkin King... Hi , It's the Pumpkin Edition! What a difference a week makes! We've been watching the weather across the nation to try to stay on top of our plant shipping, and, let's see a hands-up ~> who wants to have a little talk with Ma
Nature? Arg. Our smoky days have kept us inside during the last days of dry weather this season, totally frustrating this garden-gal! While it
doesn't compare to the snap-winter that the east coast is experiencing this week, I think I can hear us collectively complaining. Thankfully, our plants don't seem to mind. And there is always more to play with, while enjoying this hobby! For those on the east coast in the middle of the freeze, just leave the plants be. If you added any annual plants, those are probably gone. BUT, as I always
preach, "right plant for the right place" because this stuff happens sometimes...! Plants are resilient and remember, they want to live so they will always try to find a way. Links to winterizing tips are below. Take heart, you can plant an container at any time of year. And, you can easily shop your Two Green
Thumbs' store by your USDA zone, using the drop-down menu on the right. ICYMI :: An Alert Fall is the time where we bring the outdoors inside for the winter to help us stay connected to Ma Nature, and have something garden-y to play with. But note, not all plants can be
grown successfully indoors. Not all plants CAN spend the winter in forced-air, dry heat environment. You'll kill the plant. MORE :: Please remember to vote! We need to hear everyone's
voice. Whatever you do, make it fun, then spread it around, Janit Calvo, Director of Inspiration Two Green Thumbs Living Miniature Garden
Center ABOVE: Decorating the new in ground miniature garden for Halloween. Clockwise from the left, middle: Hens & Chick, Ice plant, Pusch Norway Spruce, Crookia in the back,) and in front of the trellis is a Gemstone Hinoki Cypress. Find the plants, patio materials and accessories at TwoGreenThumbs.com ~~~ It takes a village! Okay, maybe just a real pumpkin house with some with its own jack-o-lanterns on the front stoop. :o) If you look closely you can see the wires going into the back of the small pumpkins. Note that any miniature accessories will not show up well at all when decorating at night with light. Spread the light strings out to make sure it lights up where you want
it to BEFORE you go dragging all your ideas out on the lawn. For this garden shown above, I really needed the light posts that I made for the July 4th garden in the Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop book. You can see how most of the garden is left in the dark. ~~~ Mini Garden Maintenance: ~~~ Remember the year when I made a pumpkin greenhouse inside of a pumpkin greenhouse? Lol! Another fun project where you can add a dash of miniature gardening. This idea lasts about 2 to 3 weeks dependent upon your weather. Warmer weather will
make it mushy faster. Definitely keep this outside in the cooler temps to enjoy it longer. An exclusive community for miniature gardeners. Building the Hobby Together. For

YOU! To Lisa of Maryland for your cup of coffee! Your note made my day. :o) ~> What is this? <~Your cups of coffee to helps support the hobby of gardening in miniature. The research and development of this new pastime has been self-funded until we created this way for you to help us, help you by taking the time and expense to see what works, and what doesn't. <3 A Fun Project for a Family or Group: "I forgot to have children." I said to myself after finishing this project. I should have had help with this one! My hand was sore for the rest of the week... I had to carve these over the course of three days to keep the bunch fresh for the group photo. If I had used fake pumpkins, it would have been much easier - but I kinda love the smell of a burning Jack-o-lantern, it brings me back to my childhood when
Halloween was too much fun. Do this project with care as the smaller pumpkins will age and dry out faster than the large ones. On about day three you'll see the edges start to shrivel but it would depend upon your weather too. They'll keep better if your fall climes are cool and damp.
You can see I ran out of time or patience with the two solid pumpkin at right, which is why I know think this project would be fun for a family or a group/club so you can divi-up the carving and gutting. The larger pumpkins in the back row are lit by tea light candles, the ones with the white light. The smaller Jack-O-Lanterns withe the yellow
light, are lit with a fake, battery-powered tea lights. It's interesting how the two different ways to light the same thing change the color of the pumpkin at night. See how I
carve miniature pumpkins, up on the Mini Garden Guru blog here. ~~~ THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR SUBSCRIBER! Now go water your miniature garden! :o) Janit Calvo is a Writer, Artist, Gardener, Entrepreneur, Self-Proclaimed Renaissance
