Plan(t) for the Holidays! Hi , I hope this finds you enjoying the fall months wherever you are. It seems that the east coast has our west coast weather - can someone please sort that out for us? :o) Well, along with the
rest of retail-America, we decided to start the holidays early this year! Stay with me here - I have good reason: Apparently decorating for the holidays early makes you happier throughout the season. Need I say more?? AND, AS WELL AS, ALSO ~> If you've been following
me for a awhile you may know what's coming... November is our Anniversary Month! We are officially 21 years old. I think it might be time to move (the business) out of the house, no? Now THAT would be sweet. So until that miracle happens... let's have: An Anniversary

how.... Question: "I am looking for a little tree or two that I can grow in Las Vegas NV. What would you suggest?" My Answer: The biggest challenge when
growing in warm climates is the heat zones - which I think is not talked about enough. But if you align your heat zone (9) with your cold zone (9) you’ll find the plants that work in your climate. [Google AHS Heat Zone Map to find your heat zone. Apologies, I no longer have a link to the American Horticultural Society's map. I think they took it
down for copyright reasons but a search will bring it up.]
That said, here’s what I have from the (Cold Hardy) Zone 9 plant section, I’ve checked the heat zones and most of the plants in this section are rated for Heat Zone 9 EXCEPT - the Cotoneaster, Tompa Spruce and the Maidenhair Fern - those are NOT rated for
your heat zone 9.
Here’s the
section for you: https://twogreenthumbs.com/collections/zone-9-plants/Zone-9
Note that it’s okay if the heat zone number is below 9 - just not above. The heat zone numbers are rated by the number of days above 86F.
The biggest caveat is your summer heat. I’m assuming its going to be in a container - it will need some shade during
the hottest months as the hot sun may make container dry out too often. Make sure it gets plenty of air circulation too - meaning don't over plant or cram the plants together. Happy Miniature Gardening! We have your miniature Christmas tree!! Every time Steve sees this photo, he tells me it's on backwards. Lol! But I was doing it for the laugh. If you
tie your full-size Christmas tree to the top of your car, make sure the top is pointed backwards so the wind doesn't break or bend the branches. An exclusive community for miniature gardeners. Building the Hobby Together. For
