Hi , It's the Autumnal Equinox today, which really means the official start of fall. I hope you're enjoying the change of seasons too. But, honestly, who is ready for it yet? Lol! Speaking of fall, find the start of our Halloween
ideas below. AND Another Important Note NOW is a great time to photograph your garden. Now that the
cooler weather is back, the plants have a chance to recover from the summer heat, your flowers may have come back and started blooming again and, well, everything "should" be looking lovely as ever. Time to document for future bragging purposes!! Fall Planting is Still at its Optimum! ICYMI - Fall has become the BEST time to start a miniature garden, especially if you're building or adding to an inground miniature or fairy garden. It's also a good idea if you are planting any larger containers now too. With the summer weather
heating up and getting drier, it's now more important than ever to time your planting to the best of your ability to save you time and money - and water! AND it a perfect time to divide your ground covers - aka miniature garden bedding plants too! **As long as you can "work the soil" and it's not soaking wet, you can plant in-ground. You can plant a container anytime! Handmade Garden Miniatures I've just put some new handmade miniature garden items up in the store this week from a retired miniature gardener that used to specialize in workshops in her area. Two types of fun birdhouses, two types of custom garden signs and more. See them here. Grab a cuppa and dig in! Stay safe, stay sane and get outside an enjoy the sun and warmth while its still here! Oh, and whatever you do, make it fun! Janit Calvo, Head MG, Owner Two Green Thumbs Living Miniature Garden Center ABOVE: The broadleaf shrub in the middle, left is a baby Euonymous. Underneath is are Baby Tears. The flowers are Alyssum and above those is an old-yet-tiny Hemlock tree - and I just realized I have forgotten the name of the variety. The big leaves to its left are Lady's Mantle and, in the top, left corner, is a Jervis Hemlock. ~~~ Miniature Pumpkin Carving: Make it a
little scary!! Thinking About Halloween Yet?Steve assured me that no, it is not too early to start thinking about Halloween now that it's fall, right? I mean, at least I didn't start in
August like most big-box retailers! BUT if you're a crafter, you'll need this lead time to make some Halloween fun BEFORE Halloween so you can have fun with your ideas and creations DURING the Halloween season! So, let us start making things a "little" scary huh? Here's some ideas to get you going: Mini Pumpkin Carving - Here's a lesson in miniature pumpkin carving to make mini jack-o'-lanterns, it's up on the Mini Garden Guru blog here. This idea is super fun for teachers, thank you gifts, teenage parties, co-worker-gifts, your cubicle, dorm room
or place-setting gifts if you're having a spooky Halloween dinner. (After making this list, it looks like you might need a few of them. Lol!) 28
Miniature Halloween Idea Video - A visual essay with a boatload of ideas from real pumpkin houses to customizing your own miniatures. Up in the Mini Garden Guru blog here. Miniature Daisies are the BEST - Long blooming, they spread nicely without invading, the foliage is pretty when they are not flowering and when they ARE flowering, they are the cutest thing ever! Oh, and did I mention they are HARDY to -40F? Yea, that's what I'm
talkin' about! ~~~ Up on the Mini Garden Guru Blog This Week! Click in for more... We stake some of the pumpkins within the sets for you
