From Alice Zinn
Miniaturist Extraordinaire & Animal Lover
If you love animals please read this to the end.
If you've been asking yourself what you could do to help some of the animals that have been displaced by Hurricane Ida, I've come up with an idea.
In the beginning of the 2000s we had three successive hurricanes here in Florida. Most people's roofs had at least some damage and tarpaulins were attached to the roof using special nails that have a plastic disc that keeps the nail from cutting through the plastic.
So, after the first hurricane lots of people put tarps on the damage on their roofs. Then over the next several weeks we were hit by two more hurricanes and lots of those plastic discs ended up ripping off their roofs and all over the lawns including mine.
As the miniaturist that I am I couldn't help noticing that they looked just like little frisbees in 1/12 scale! I gathered them up made labels for them and sold them for $2 a piece eventually raising $500 to send to the Humane Society of America to help animals effected by Hurricane Katrina which happened just a year or two later.
I have just over two hundred of those disks left. Tonight I made new labels for them. If you would like to help, send me $2 and a self-addressed stamped envelope. It's very important that you send the envelope because that's how you will get your frisbee back.
I want all the money to go to the animals.
You can send me a check or you can pay me through PayPal (iamazin@aol.com) if you're more comfortable and I have noticed some of you even like to put two single bills in an envelope and that's fine as well.
Make sure your email address is in there and I will let you know when I receive your order.
When the orders slow down in a couple of weeks I will send all the money to help with the hurricane ravaged areas abandoned animals and let you know the total.
Thank you in advance for caring about the animals. Above, is a picture of the nails the way they start out, of the frisbees I made 16 years ago, and the design of the new one that I did today.
