On Staying Creative
After a quick Google search for, "Staying Creative," I found approximately 306 million results. It's something I'm guilty of promoting as well in an effort to keep my sales going. But, the truth is, you can't keep being creative every single day. It's
just impossible.
You see, I've been in a bit of rut over these last few months and I've been trying to get creative, make something, paint something - "Just do something!" I kept saying to myself.
I even tried to renovate my indoor studio in hopes that would inspire me - there's nothing like a brand new room to set up in and spread out your goodies, right? But, I couldn't do that either. There my poor studio sits, half apart and waiting... (It should be noted that I'm very grateful for a very patient husband!)
So I took a creative break from being creative. I didn't make anything, I didn't paint anything, I didn't take a sledgehammer to the wall to start a much-needed renovation. I just did my job, enjoyed the summer, read a stack of fiction and played with my flowers from my full-sized garden. And I waited.
And it worked. I'm slowly getting rejuvenated, re-interested and re-inspired to create. Once I got into my new project ebook on Miniature Garden Art Poles, I started to remember how fun it was to have small project to tinker with even if I do a little each day or so. Now, I'm getting ready for bigger projects.
The saying "A rested field yields a bountiful harvest" is quite true. You can't keep sowing and growing on the same soil each and every season. The soil needs to be replenished somehow - or, in this case, rested, before it can grow anything again.
So, if you were like me and can't seem to get motivated to get creative or make something, that's perfectly okay.
Because I know that eventually something will come along and you'll get that spark of creativity that will give you a jolt of energy and inspiration - and get you staying creative if only for a spell. And that's okay too.
