Let the Summer Fun Begin!

Hi ,
I hope this finds you creating new ways to enjoy your miniature garden too.
We listen to dance music when we work here at Two Green Thumbs Miniature Garden Center and the radio station reminded us of a virtual Pride Weekend this weekend. While I don't always join in Pride festivities, the national Gay Pride events still announce that summer is finally here and we're missing it as well! So, covid-19 be damned, I'm doing it up Gay Pride style
in the miniature garden today to help our LGBTQ friends celebrate!
And while I'm being "warm and fuzzy," sometimes your notes are so sweet, it really chokes me up and puts a lump in my throat. This note came from Suzanne in Georgia when she bought us a few cups of coffee last week:
"Hi, Janit and Steve, thank you so much for all you do! Wish I could order, but times are hard for so many, us included. I will be back as a customer ASAP! In the
meantime, have a cuppa on me! Fingers crossed y’all make it through this. We need you."
See? I told you it was SWEET. Thank you very much for your love and support throughout the years, Suzanne! I can hear your sweet Georgia accent saying this too. <3
And the garden might be the safest spot to be in right now. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay grounded with Ma Nature and a lil' miniature gardening!
Whatever you do make it fun,
ABOVE: That is a Lemon Cypress (aka Monteray Cypress,) with Dwarf London Pride Saxifrage (rosettes,) Blue Star Creeper (larger leaves,) and Baby Tears. The Baby Tears is the least hardy, so that makes this garden hardy to Zone 7.
PS - Love to lurk? Recently, it was brought to our attention that there are a number of you that love to lurk - which we love to hear, but we love our customers dearly because they help us keep this Mini Garden Gazette free for everyone! Effort takes time and money and new ideas can chip away at any budget.
So, if you are not a customer, how about a coffee or two to thank us for all our free Infotainment that we provide throughout this Gazette and all our websites and social channels? It's easy to do, click here and we'll thank you in next week's Gazette! It all goes toward the gardening in miniature hobby!
A big miniature garden THANK YOU to:
- Suzanne in Georgia
- Cheryl in South Carolina
- Janet in Ohio
- Graciela in Uruguay!! :o)
- Amanda in Washington
- Roberta in Washington
- and Denis in Michigan
This Miniature Adirondack Chair is the real deal. Made of real wood, the chair comes au-natural so you can paint, stain or customize it however you want. It's sturdy, but the glue will fail eventually
(as all glue does when left outside,) but it's simple enough to repair with hot glue or wood-glue AND it's inexpensive enough to have a few on hand to play with throughout the year! See it up in the store here.
For the Pride-Rainbow design: I spray-painted it white first, then used a small brush and acrylic paint to paint only the tops of each plank. You can paint all the sides of each plank of course, but, when using so many different colors, it will take you much longer to do and might test your patience.

Whoa! I'm back to blogging this week... alert the media! Lol!

stand, our principles and our future.
This Little Missy Sedum is, quite possibly, the world's cutest sedum. The photo doesn't show the pink margins on the leaves but it's just darling! It doesn't handle the cold too well, it's only hardy to 10F but I've read that I can be grown indoors with PLENTY of light if you want to try to overwinter it.
Shear it when it's leggy or gets a bit unruly but wait to see the new growth from stems around the crown (the base) of the plant first. Pink blossoms in summer just makes it too cute for words. Really. Limited supply.

Weeding Words to the Wise
In case you haven't noticed, a LOT of my miniature gardens are in containers. I do have a big in-ground miniature garden that I don't show - simply because I've been having a dickens-of-a-time with keeping the weeds in check. So, I've come up with a few quick tips if you are "in the weeds" in your in-ground miniature garden too.
- Be realistic. This past winter, I re-arranged my in-ground miniature garden and cut it in half. I realized that it's too big for me! I wasn't keeping up with the weeding and there it sat, each summer FULL of weeds. Not fun. Now it is manageable and more enjoyable to weed it because I can make a difference in only an hour!
- Compartmentalize. Aim to get one section of weeding done at a time. It's no fun to weed ALL afternoon so decide how much time to spend maintaining and stick to it. This way, you can reward yourself with a little planting, planning or putzing after you're done your chores. You won't get burnt-out on it either.
- Add Water. Water your in-ground garden the night before or early in the morning, before your scheduled weeding time. Once that soil drys out, it tends to hold on to the roots of the weeds and all your effort is for naught. The damp soil releases the roots easier and you'll be able to get the job done faster.
- Make it Cushy. Use your old bed-pillows and blankets to sit upon in the garden while you weed. They are old and smelly anyway and what else are you going to do with them besides add to the landfill? Sit on it! It's actually really comfortable and now my dog, Kitty, has cottoned on to it so I have two relegated to the garden now.
- Keep it Cool. Can't handle too much sun? The sun's rays feel stronger nowadays but it may be me just getting old! Reserve time in your schedule early in the morning or later in the early evening, to avoid the heat of the day. OR note when your garden is in the shade so you can be comfortable working in it for long lengths of time. You can
always put up a patio umbrella over the spot while you're working on it too.

PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITES:
ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: We ship internationally (- but not the plants!) All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping
calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping calculator can - if we can save you money on shipping, we will.
MORE ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: There is some confusion when checking out of our online
store and seeing the shipping option of "Priority Mail." Priority Mail is the
term the United States Post System calls their services. Anything over 1 pound gets shipped by Priority Mail. They have done-away with Parcel Post. ~> It does not mean you get "priority" over anyone else's order. It's just what they call it. We are not able to send any order over a pound any other way. We choose to stay with USPS because they are least expensive, 98% reliable and they usually get your orders to you within 3 days at most. We've priced other services and USPS is our
choice to save you money, ship your plants to you safely and quickly. :o)
We appreciate and serve everyone regardless of race, color, gender, politics or religion. Viva la difference! If we were all the same, the world would be a very, very boring place to live... We believe in Oneness, Kindness & Love.
