Hi ,
A funny thing happened yesterday when I was ALMOST ready to publish this Mother's Day edition of the Mini Garden Gazette and send it out to you.
Mom called.
Lol!
Aaaannnd there went my plans for my Gazette. I think Mom is just about the ONLY person that I drop everything for and answer her call. Anyone else, I be like, "Sorry! Gotta write to my Fellow MGs now!" (Dad can't hear well anymore so we email.)
I hope you have special plans for your Mother's Day. We have gift certificates if you're like me and don't have a lot of ideas for her during this unusual time. I personalize the certificate and email them to you can tuck them in a card or I can send it directly to your Mom. As you probably already know, the gift of Gardening in Miniature is heartfelt, very creative and enduring. <3
MORE new plants are up in the store today. We love to see all the new MGs that are coming into the hobby. Welcome! Let me know if you have any questions - just hit the reply and start typing... IF I've missed answering your email, please try again, I know that sometimes the emails go into my spam folder and I miss them.
SHIPPING NEWS: There is some confusion when checking out of our online store and seeing the shipping option of "Priority Mail." Priority Mail is the term the United States Post System calls their services. Anything over 1 pound gets shipped by Priority Mail. They have done-away with Parcel Post. ~> It does not mean you get "priority" over anyone else's order. It's just what they call it. We are not able to send any order over a pound any other way. We choose to stay with USPS because they are least expensive, 98% reliable and they usually get
your orders to you within 3 days at most. We've priced other services and USPS is our choice to save you money, ship your plants to you safely and quickly. :o)
We are about 5 to 7 days in turning around your orders - it must be spring! Let us know if you need it faster and we'll oblige. We are packing as fast as we can!
Stay safe, stay positive, stay rooted with Ma Nature and a lil' miniature gardening! Remember if you do something you love, you spread more love.
Whatever you do make it fun,
About the Garden Above: Part of a series for the Mini Garden Guru blog where I took the same garden and decorated it throughout the year. The taller tree is a Compressa Juniper. To the left of it is the Blue Moon Cypress. Dwarf Lily Turf on the very left and in front, a blend of Woolly Thyme and Dwarf
Hens and Chicks. I would say this garden would be hardy to about Zone 4 or around -20F to -30F.
PS - A warm & fuzzy miniature garden thank you to Gwen from WA who “bought us coffee” this week! Many thanks again for the love, we appreciate it! <3
Miniature Garden Insight
For Quick-Changing Winter Weather Conditions
I saw all the snow on my Fellow MG's Instagram feed this morning! Arg! Susan is in Hope Junction in New York State where the entire area got one of those spring snow storms. I've also been seeing in some of the threads online where people are pulling their plants indoors for weather changes like this.
Keep the outdoor plants outside!!
Our plants are very high quality, (I can't speak for any other company's plants, however,) and our plants will literally "brush off" the snow themselves if they could - it doesn't phase them. That said, and if you are a bit worried about them, just tuck them closer to the house or garage, or on a covered porch for the duration of the extreme weather.
If you bring the plant inside, it's a much different climate for them. It's hotter, drier and there's usually little daylight. These conditions will put much more stress on them than leaving them outside.
The main caveat is to keep them watered if they are still in the nursery pots or in a miniature container. You do not want the roots to dry out. All pots should have drainage holes too.
For in-ground miniature gardens, you can put a plastic bag over the plants, some burlap or a bough from your pruning project, but only overnight when the temperatures dip. Be sure the take the covering off during the day so they can get the light and air. You can do this for the duration of the extreme weather.
One of the MANY joys of Gardening in Miniature is miniature flower arranging! I've put all the Plants that Flower in one section in the online store here. You can find a LOT more information, ideas and plant lists in my second book, Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop book in
the Mother's Day chapter.

This statue of a Mom and Baby serves as a reminder to buy that miniature item when you see it! The miniature industry is a fickle, fickle beast - especially now, during the current economic crises
with China where most of our miniatures that we know and love are made. Take it from someone who has worked with the industry for over 20 years now and has witnessed too many awesome garden miniatures be discontinued - unfortunately.

ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: We ship internationally (- but not the plants!) All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping
calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping calculator can - if we can save you money on shipping, we will.
REMINDER: This email is not spam. You are receiving this because you signed up for it and then you confirmed your subscription through your email. If you do not want this newsletter, we'll be sad to see you go, you will miss out on a lot of upcoming fun with this new hobby, and you'll have a hard time finding a better hobby, but please unsubscribe using the link
