Hi ,
This is an unusual newsletter for unusual times. Hope you are safe and healthy.
I've been grappling on what to say for this Mini Garden Gazette for a few days now. I didn't feel right ignoring what's happening in all our lives right now, and I do recognize that is not my job to bring you the news on anything but miniature gardening.
I thought the quote was a great way to visualize and grasp the anger and frustration that we are seeing in the news stream every day now for the last week and a half.
"At first I thought I should just shut up and listen to black people about this issue.
But why would I do that? It's not their problem. It's mine.
People of colour are being failed by the system. The white system.
Like a broken pipe flooding the apartment of the people living downstairs. This faulty system is making their life a misery, but it's not their job to fix it. They can't - no one will let them in the apartment upstairs.
This is a white problem. And if white people don't fix it, someone will have to come upstairs and kick the door in."

They are kicking the door in. Let's just open it up and keep it open.
This revolution is now traveling around the globe as people like you and me, white people, are really pausing and realizing, really comprehending and really feeling, what our brothers and sisters have to - and had to - bear each and every day, all day long. And remember that this inequality has been going on for over 400 years now.
Please lift up your voices to be heard too, and help speak out against the police brutality and social-economic inequity of our black and brown friends and family so they can truly experience the peace and joy of the hobby of gardening in miniature as well.
Regular programming will resume next week. Thank you for reading. Stay safe.
