Hi ,
Whoa Nelly! Who has time to work or chores when there is miniature gardening to do? Here in Seattle, we have to "work in between the raindrops" every spring because when the sun shines and you don't get outside, you might not see the sun for another week. So, as you can see, I got a chance to work on my in-ground miniature garden. I needed it. And it was wonderful. I highly
recommend it.
After several in-ground miniature gardens, I've realized a thing or two of what to do and what not to do. I'm doing an in-depth study for the Miniature Garden Society but I've included some insights below if you are thinking of or starting a in-ground miniature garden. ABOVE PHOTO, a freshly weeded miniature garden. It will look MUCH better in a month's time when the
plants recover and start to flush-in with the warm weather.
And, in this edition, something that I said I would never do but I did. Scroll down to find out what it is and give your feedback. :o)
We are about 5 to 7 days in turning around your orders - it must be spring! Let us know if you need it faster and we'll oblige. We are packing as fast as we can!
Stay safe, stay healthy, get outside with Ma Nature and a lil' miniature gardening!
Whatever you do make it fun,
About the Garden Above: That tree is a Thyme Leaf Cotoneaster that's just beginning to flower. The gold tree on the right it a Butter Ball Hinoki. The grass is Dwarf Mondo Grass (it's just weeded so it doesn't look very good.) and behind the cherub birdbath is the Dwarf London Pride Saxifrage.
PS - Karen from VA thankfully “bought us coffee” today so we DID NOT fall asleep all over
the place... whew! Lol! Thank you again Karen! Happy Miniature Gardening! :o)

Insight
for
In-Ground Gardening
It's Not Going to be Perfect All the Time - No in-ground garden is but there are times when it is awesome and other times, not-so-much! There will always be a period of time when the plants are transitioning in some way: either growing in, establishing themselves, needing dividing, pruning or simply going dormant. AND note that some plants do
this stuff at different times. (Those fancy photos you see of glorious full-size gardens? Know that the garden designers work extremely hard to get everything looking lovely all at once, speaking from experience.)
Don't Go Too Big All At Once Unless You Have The Time - Notice the capitals on this one. Lol! Yeah, I've been there done that and I had to scale it back to a manageable plot. When I bought my first house, I went a little nutty with the layout and made it about 20' by 15'. Boy did those weeds get away from me! I ended up getting really discouraged and
let it go to the weeds every summer - the very season I should be enjoying it! This past winter I cut it in half, now I'm not so discourage by the weeds.
And Speaking of Weeding - If your in-ground garden has been taken over with weeds, just work on one section at a time. AND, get the camera to help. For this Gazette, I wanted to show you my big garden, but I didn't have the time to get it ready for you all at once. So, I told myself that all I had to get done was "this section" that I wanted to photograph.
I only weeded what was in the shot - outside of the photograph, well, I'm NOT going to show ANYONE that - yet. Lol!
Would YOU want this in your mini garden? I ordered bathtubs and got toilets. Lol! The part numbers were very similar so it was an understandable mix-up. After explaining to Lynne, a fellow MG in CA, why I did not have the tub for her order, she thought it hilarious and wanted it.
~>> So, what do you think? I'm a bit turned-off them in full-size gardens but in miniature, it sure is funny! Is this something you would include in your scenes? Should we carry them in our Miniature Garden Center? Hit reply and let me know....

The Mitsch Mini Mugo Pine - The ones new in stock this week are about 2" high. This one shown above we, had for several years. Mugo Pines are great for containers, can tolerate dry conditions and are very drought-tolerant when established in
ground. AND they always seem to look great in the miniature garden!

PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITES:
ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: We ship internationally (- but not the plants!) All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping
calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping calculator can - if we can save you money on shipping, we will.
MORE ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: There is some confusion when checking out of our online
store and seeing the shipping option of "Priority Mail." Priority Mail is the
term the United States Post System calls their services. Anything over 1 pound gets shipped by Priority Mail. They have done-away with Parcel Post. ~> It does not mean you get "priority" over anyone else's order. It's just what they call it. We are not able to send any order over a pound any other way. We choose to stay with USPS because they are least expensive, 98% reliable and they usually get your orders to you within 3 days at most. We've priced other services and USPS is our
choice to save you money, ship your plants to you safely and quickly. :o)
