Hi ,
Well, needless to say, my trip back to Toronto to help Mom after her hip surgery was a little bit more than I bargained for. Boy, do I have even more respect for health care workers, nurses, pharmacists, personal service workers and care givers (probably missed some...) You just don't know how much they do until you're in a similar situation. Thankfully, my Mom is now well on her
way to recovery - thank you for all your well-wishes!
The Holly-Daze is now upon us! Don't forget to give your hobby a gift as well! Yes, your miniature garden needs some love this holiday too! Simply because there is nothing more inspiring that a new miniature garden kit, accessory, tree or a book to spark your creativity and get you going! Let me know if you are in need of anything, I'm glad to help where I can!
More new things are on their way this season. Stay tuned!
Dig in and enjoy!
Whatever you do make it fun,

PS - A warm THANK YOU to Karen from NY & Connie from FL, fellow MGs who also “bought us coffees” for Steve and I. Thank you for the
love! <3

FROSTY WINTER WEATHER WARNING!
Hey, just a reminder to water your miniature gardens that are in containers during the winter. (Anything in-ground will be fine.)
Almost all of our plants are hardy to -20F - some are even hardier like the Junipers and Pines that can take -30F to -40F temps. I know, right? BRRRR!
WHY? The plant's roots can survive being FROZEN not FREEZE-DRIED. If there is no snow on your miniature garden, you can look at the top of the soil and probably tell if it looks dry. Another way to tell is if the outside rim of soil has separated from the wall of the pot - it's definitely dry. BUT if you not sure, water! Your outdoor pots
should all have a drainage hole.
Water with regular cold water. Any hot or warm water will shock the plants.
And, ignore what you're neighbor's think about you watering in the middle of the winter for they do not understand our ways. Lol! :o)

Ellwood's Lawson Cypress - The Lawson Cypress is one of the few plants that we can enjoy indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. Outdoors, it is hardy to -20F but I like to keep them a bit more sheltered if the temps go below freezing. Indoors, I make sure
it's kept in a cool spot, with no heat source around it. The soil should never dry out completely. Keep it in a pot with a drainage hole to avoid overwatering.
Test the soil before you water to make sure it needs it to keep it from staying too moist. (Poke your finger at least 1" down into the soil, if it's dry water, if it's wet - wait and test again in a day or three.)

ABOUT OUR SHIPPING: We ship internationally (- but not the plants!) All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping
calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping calculator can - if we can save you money on shipping, we will.
