Happy Spring! Now we wait for the weather to get the memo. Lol!

We broke records again here in Seattle - it as 76F degrees for a couple of days at the beginning of this week. So, yes, I dropped everything and went outside to get the nursery area into summer-mode so I wouldn't lose any more plants. I think this the very first March where I actually had to water everything. It was so weird but it was a nice break for us - we don't normally get any break during the spring season.

So, the big news is the Miniature Garden Society is now OPEN for members! Yay! We'll be rolling out more of a proper launch but I wanted to give you, my beloved subscriber, a head's up. And the garden after the freeze! Yeah, we lost some plants during the freeze because I forgot to shelter them properly. Ugh. AND, I forgot to tuck this pot closer to the house so it froze and broke. Ugh x 2. See? Even professionals lose plants - they just don't tell you!

That garden is from my Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop book, the Mother's Day chapter. The tree is a Miniature Hemlock. But I wanted to show that you can now see the thickness of the patio - that's what a patio looks like that is made from our very popular Mini Patio Mix Kit. It's about 1/2 think and I can reuse it in another garden now. Oh, and note that patio didn't break in the freeze either! See the Mini Patio Mix Kit up in the online store here.

I'll re-pot that Hemlock and include some organic time-release fertilizer with it because it's looking a bit yellow. It's been in that pot for about 4 years, I think, so the nutrients that was in the potting soil has been used up. A good rule of thumb is to use a gentle fertilizer to feed the plants AFTER two years of living in a pot. There is usually enough nutrients in fresh potting soil to keep the plants happy until then.

Our favorite miniature Adirondack bench is back in stock too! It ages very gracefully in the miniature garden but bring it inside for the winter if you are in an area that "does winter." Get someone to help you carry it into the garage.... Lol! :o)
