Mini-Mini-Garden-Tutorial
Are you just starting into the hobby of gardening in miniature? Or have you been lurking and loving all the miniature gardens on the Internet and hesitant to start your own? Have you been collecting ideas on your Pinterest board yet haven't gotten your fingers dirty yet?
THE best way to get started if you're not sure where to start:
1. Decide WHERE you want to your miniature garden to live.
Indoors? Outdoors? In a container? On a tabletop? In a garden bed?
The spot you choose will dictate the SIZE of your miniature garden. Then you can figure out if you need one tree or three trees? Do you have room for some mini bedding plants too? Do you have room for patio or a path or both
Draw it out on a sheet of paper to size so you can get a feel of how everything will fit. Tape several sheets together for a big garden blueprint.
This way you'll answer a lot of your own questions just by mapping it out and thinking it out AND won't buy more than you have to because you'll know just what you need. Information increases confidence! :o)
2. THEN you can start to look for the right pot.(If you're building one in a pot, that is.)
3. AND THEN you can start to look for plants to suit that spot. "Right plant in the right place" is the golden garden rule meaning to chose indoor plants for indoors, outdoors for outdoors, shade plants for shady spot, dry-loving plants for a dry spot, etc.
