Staying Focused

**Photos may take a moment to load**

Hi ,

So it a typical PNW winter forecast this week is rain, rain, rain - and then after that, I think it will rain. Maybe I should become a meteorologist. Lol! Hope your winter weather is bearable, wherever you are.

Well, we've been busy getting the new store up and ready for you! It will hopefully be ready within the next two weeks. I can't wait for you to see it. I'm eager to get back to my regular routine of creating content and finding surprises for you. I'll let you know how I did it too - it's so simple, I'm kicking myself!

You know I don't get political at all - but I hope you are joining the hundreds of thousands of women for the Women's March tomorrow. I think it will be epic. There should be one in your area happening. Check on Facebook or simply google the name of your city and "Woman's March" to find out more. Note that I saw a lot of men marching last year so it's not only for women, it's a march for people that care about people.

Whatever you do, make it fun,

ABOVE: The Variegated Cotoneaster throws some shade on the Cape Cod garden from the Gardening in Miniature Prop Shop book. Apparently the Variegated Cotoneaster are rare - so if you see one pick it up! It's tough and hardy.

Tree sets are now up in the Etsy store this week! Save a few bucks and get a set of trees that can be grown together, with the same light and water needs. Makes miniature gardening easy-peasy! See this set here.

The Miniature Garden Soapbox

Whoa Nelly! It's that time of year again when the retail industry amps up for the wholesale shows and everyone is competing for the retailer's attention. After being on the outskirts of this yearly phenomenon, because I seldom can find anything that suits what I do from the mainstream, it's getting kind of ridiculous as "they" try to cater to us, the miniature gardener.

These trade magazines think they know what we want. I think they need to do some gardening in miniature to find out what miniature gardeners want and need. Hmmm? Here are some examples so you can chuckle along with me from the trade mags:

- Molten glass bowls - Huh? It's called dish gardening.
- Swamp houses - Who in the world wants to grow a swamp? Haven't we had enough of the "draining of the swamp??" It would be a stressful scene indeed!
- Apparently wolves are a MUST for the miniature garden. Quick, how many of you have a wolf statue in your full-sized garden?
- And mermaids are around this year - again. I didn't know mermaids actually LIVE in a garden?
- Miniature garden seeds for basil, marigolds, celery, dahlias or fountain grass - What? These are NOT miniature plants at all.
- And plant tags with fairies on them are only there for one thing: to dupe you into buying them for your fairy garden! They are not great miniature plants at all and will grow waaaay too fast. Don't do it! Lol!

Is no one else in the garden retail & gift industry actually miniature gardening?? Insert eye-roll here.

SO be rest-assured that here at Two Green Thumbs Miniature Garden Center we remain focused on true gardening in miniature.

And no, I won't stray off course just for a buck.

End of rant - thanks for reading! :o)

Plants for the miniature garden bed! Create an under story underneath your trees in your miniature garden for more enchantment. Here's a set of four ground covers that have the same light and water requirement. They can all be grown in full sun to part sun, and are drought tolerant when they are established in the garden bed. See more details and photos here.
