Hi ,
Okay I'm showing my Canadian roots but
Victoria Day weekend was always the official start to summer up in Canada. Now the weather-people said spring is coming this weekend to the Seattle area - just in case you were looking for it too. It never showed up for the longest time in the Great Northwest but apparently it is working overtime on the east coast! Hope you are enjoying spring wherever you are.
It's been a busy week so I'll keep this short and sweet so you can dig into the gazette to find out what we've been up to. Be sure to glance through the gentle reminders for spring - click into the link if you need to know more.
Oh, and if you are in the Great Northwest - come and see us at the huge Sorticulture Garden Art Show. If you've never been, it's a real garden-y treat. Plan to spend a few hours and stay for a bite to eat too. More below.
As always, whatever you do, make it fun,
Linda and I at the trough. Lol! Linda head's up a number of different garden clubs. It was the Hill and Dale Garden Club that did the heavy lifting of installing the trough and filling it with styrofoam and potting soil.
Sparking Joy
It's official! The Miniature Garden Society, in collaboration with the Hill & Dale Garden Club, installed our first miniature-garden-therapy-garden (okay, so my name needs work, :o) this past week in the Old Soldier's Home in Orting, Washington, almost an hour south of
Seattle.
I've always wanted to find out if a miniature garden can really
deliver some garden therapy to non-miniature-gardeners if it was put in the right spot. If a full-size garden can be therapeutic for everyone, why not a tiny one too? And now that the Miniature Garden Society is established, we can make time to reach out into the community, to see what we can do with our hobby to share the joy of gardening in miniature.

Moss - is really a miniature lawn that doesn't need mowing. :o)
The above photo is from our display last year, 2016. If you recall, I had to keep all the gardens small because of Steve's accident - he was only able to "root" for me last year.
:o)
