Hi ,
Okay, I think it's safe to say HAPPY SPRING!
Happy Easter and Pesach Sameach or Happy
Passover!

Our

I'm off to Chicago next week to participate at one of the world's best miniature shows - THREE miniature shows happen all at once each spring and it's just awesome. Read more about WHY you should consider going too, right here, besides meeting me, that is. Lol!
And a gentle reminder that Mother's Day is May 14th and yours will love miniature gardening too. <3
Remember, doing what you love to do spreads more love. :o)
Whatever you do, make it fun,

Miniature Pussy Willow? While I haven't figured out the exact secret behind getting my dwarf willow to push out flowers for spring, I am smitten when I do see them from our grower. How fun is that? This is the Silver Fox Hoary Willow - this current batch

I have some important news that, being the fortuitous leader of the hobby, I need to highlight and bring to you, my fellow miniature gardener.
The two top garden shows in the country are not recognizing our beloved miniature garden hobby, despite the thousands of people world-wide, and on social media, that love it.
All other parts of the garden industry are honored at these shows, landscaping, garden design, vegetable gardening, ikebana, bonsai and floral arranging are just a few niches that have earned a place at both shows as a facet of gardening. Whenever I approached the folks a the Northwest show with this question, I'm told to "get a booth" as a company - not as a
hobby.
If you click on either email address you'll find a pre-written email that you can simply sign and send. If you want to write anything else, please do.
If you get any response, please send it along so we can inform everyone. I'm thanking you now for your efforts! |
Spring Growing Tip: Is It Dead?
Did your Baby Tears freeze over the winter and turn black? Give them some
time to see if they will bounce back. The foliage in the above photo was entirely black last month and you can see the tiny green leaves popping through the dead mat showing us it's still alive and ready to grow.
For any plant in your miniature garden that looks dead, give it a little bit of time to see if it will bounce back before you toss it in the compost heap. Some plants may be deciduous
and naturally die back to the ground every winter and you may have forgotten that it is supposed to do that if its new to you.
If you have any plants that are just stems, like the dwarf spireas, scrape off the very top layer of bark towards the bottom of one stem to see if it's green underneath. If it's green, it's still alive. If it looks brown, like dried wood, then it's probably dead.
You
can then take the plant out of the garden and see what the roots are doing. If you can see new growth starting to push, put it back. If the roots are a rotted mess, it's compost and time to go shopping! :o)
