Hi ,
Happy Long Weekend! We wish you and yours a very safe and fun weekend, wherever you are. And if the weather
has kept you indoors, remember that you can still play with your miniature gardening. It's like a hobby that it always there for you.
If you can't play with the plants, you can
always make some miniatures. If you can't do either, you can surf the Internet and hunt for new design ideas or find DIY ideas for more special occasions that are coming up on the calendar.
If you're out and about, you can always poke around for resources and look for independent fabric stores, craft or hobby stores,
thrift or antique stores, or your local independent garden center, to see what you can find for your beloved hobby. It will be the independent stores where you will find the weird and wonderful - not the big box stores.
Thanks for
being our subscriber! :o)

Sometimes it takes awhile to get the right shot. This was another set-up we considered publishing for today's blog, the
furniture is from our personal collection.
Grow in Your Zone
Plants are like people in the way that they can only grow with the right conditions - kinda like me, I would shrivel up if I lived in Yukon. Remember the "right plant in the right place" rule for the best success for any type of gardening. And no, you can't fool Mother Nature and grow an outdoor plant indoors, nor can you grow a cool-loving tree in a
tropical climate.
More info on growing in the warmer states, from the blog:
Reminder Memo: Planting new plants in your in-ground miniature garden in the hot and dry months can be done with plenty of attention and care.
Provide extra shade with umbrellas or canopies. Maintain the watering schedule, let the soil dry out until barely damp in between watering sessions so you don't overwater, and never let the soil dry out completely for the first season. (The extra shade will help with this.)
Container gardens of any kind can be planted at anytime. Right plant, right place
too.

Boyd's
Willow - Salix Boydii, as seen in our Gardening in Miniature book to the left of the statue in 2013. A true miniature tree, it's only 9 inches tall now. ~~~~~~~~

ICYMI:
The wood accessories go together nicely. The patina will change as they get older but it will take a few months
depending upon where you live. The trellis and deck are made in the USA, the bench is made in Germany. Find the USA Flag Banner DIY right here. I found the miniature firecrackers at our local miniature show. I don't leave them out, they are made of paper and blow away in the breeze! New and Back in Stock this week!
