Hi ,
I hope this finds you enjoying the spring. I also hope you have a chance to get your fingers in the soil and make a big mess! It's it fun to pull apart a garden that really needs it (full size AND miniature!) and put it back together again? It's always so rewarding and satisfying.
We just received a shipment of new miniature accessories and I haven't even had a chance to photograph them in a miniature garden yet! I couldn't wait to show you, see more photos below and there is more in the store here.
April is Miniature Show Month in Chicago and
there is a new show in town that looks too good to miss - I need a teleporter! It's called The Miniature Show and there is an online version of it. Just sign up and you'll receive the notice when the online show is open. Can't wait! Too fun! See it here, http://www.theminiatureshow.com/
Read on and see the new furniture, we have a new tiny miniature tree set in stock, some great tips for making more bedding plants and, a head's up for a miniature garden
opportunity!
Whatever you do, make it fun,

Sweetness! I fell in love with this set the moment I saw it. Finally a classy, in scale, wire patio set! Large size or 1" scale. Cushions are not attached. Really pretty. See it here. Blue Star Creeper - You can see why it's called that with the five-pointed flowers. I love the color too. Spreads slowly into a mat, good for part sun to full sun with evenly damp
soil. See it here.

Miniature Bedding Plant Tips!
Growing: Most ground covers follow the rule, "The first year they sleep, the second year they creep, the third year they leap." Take a look at your miniature bedding plants, if you have a ground cover that's been in the same spot for at least
3 years, it may be time to divide it.
Dividing Signs: Signs that your ground covers need dividing are: In-ground: if the middle of the
plant is really leggy (check the surround green growth, it's probably rooted.) A yellow spot in the middle of the plant (Irish moss does this.) If in pots, the trailing leaves and stems are dried up and dead (it may be too late at this point but try digging up the mother plant anyway to see if its alive.)
Dividing Established Plants: When you dig up your bedding plant, you will be able to tell the divisions by looking for the babies that are living off of the mother plant. (You can tell I don't have that horticultural lingo down. Lol!) They are usually attached as runners, or underground stems. Cut the stems from the mother plant rather than pulling it. Don't let the root ball dry out (Loosely cover the roots with damp soil.) and plant it properly
soon or give it away to a friend or neighbor.
Dividing Pots Just Bought: You can tell if a ground cover can be divided by looking at how it grows in the spot. If it has one center and the stems are spreading out from there, it probably won't
divide easily. Examples are: Cranesbill,
Fairy Vine and Thymes (most of
the time. ;o) If the stems are coming out of the pot all through the surface of the soil, then it can be divided easily. Examples are: Baby
Tears, Miniature
Daisies and Platts Black
Brass Buttons. Made in Germany Wood Garden Bench. I love how the tables are attached - less fuss and muss AND it gives you a place to put your smaller items. Sturdy, nicely built, made from basswood. Use a sealant like outdoor Modge Podge at least once a year to protect it. Bring it indoors during the weather and it will last forever. ;o) See it here - see the baskets here.

~~~~~~~~ OPPORTUNITY ALERT!
Mother's Day is coming! Make a Miniature Garden with Mom!
I never
need an excuse to craft and create, but I do need an excuse to get Mom gardening. Lol! If your Mom is anything like mine, she would LOVE a chance to tell me how her ideal miniature garden would look like - and then she would tell me exactly where to put everything. Lol! ;o) Miniature gardening for an afternoon can set up a great bonding experience with Mom or Grandma!
Happy Spring! Thank you for being our
