Hi ,
I hope this finds you recovered from the first long weekend of the season! It's FINALLY warm and sunny here in Seattle - thank you to all who sent heat & sun over the last few weeks, I didn't know you could do that, but I love you for it. Lol!
So, a funny thing happened the other day...
... and finally my application was approved!
The month of May,
from this day forth,
shall be forever be known as...
!! NATIONAL MINIATURE GARDEN MONTH !!
YES!! I can't stop giggling about it... It's official! You can see the letter below. I've been doing the happy dance for the last couple of days.
BUT, Janit, what does this really mean?
What this really means is that it's a major way to establish our hobby in the mainstream - every year! By putting us on that National Day Calendar, it exposes our hobby to a boatload of people and then some - forever! We'll be included in their social media, exposed to over 20,000 media outlets who use their service, we'll be in the printed calendar each year and
more!
Now it's not all roses yet - it's a bit expensive to get registered and we're reviewing some ways to raise the money needed for the application fee, but if you would like to help and show your support for the hobby, I've got some easy ways to do so, listed below.
Meanwhile, find new plants, fun accessories and authentic patio materials up in the store this week! I found some miniature garden bedding plants (aka ground covers,) that we haven't had in over a year, fresh from the grower. See our New & Back in Stock Section here.
Whatever you do, make it fun, stay safe and be gentle with others, for they may not have a hobby to escape to, like we do,

I miss the days when you could frame a letter! Because I would be framing this one. Lol! You can tell by my excitement over this, just how long and how hard I've been working on getting this hobby noticed in the marketplace and beyond. It
really has grown to be an INTERNATIONAL hobby but it's SO great to get noticed by a major influencer here in the USA, like the National Day Calendar!

About today's featured garden: This garden was built in 2016 for Father's Day. I made the stone wall around the Seiju Elm (shown in the top photo) by gluing together clean stones, and filling in the gaps with our
Mini Patio Mix. I'm still working on getting more of the Cedar Trellis and Decks in stock.
The plants, clockwise from the stop are Red Thyme, Dwarf Mondo Grass, Green Carpet, Dwarf Hens and Chicks, more Green Carpet, another Dwarf Mondo Grass and underneath that are some Platt's Black Brass Buttons. All are in stock except the Green Carpet which will be ready later this month.

The National Miniature Garden Month Fund :o)
Can you please help us get registered for National Miniature Garden Month? The application fee is $3,500 and it's a "one-time" fee so once we've paid for it, we'll have it forever. Steve and I have been working on this hobby for the last 20 years and have self-funded everything so far, but now we need some real help to get this going. I think it's worth every cent and it'll expose our
hobby more than we could ever do.
Here are some ways for you to help for any kind of budget. Click into the links for more...
(The Peace Banner proceeds still go to the Ukraine relief effort.)

The Golden Torch Barberry's "crackin' color!" The brilliant yellow leaves will charm you throughout the summer. In the fall, it'll drop its leaves for winter, then you get the flowers in the spring again. Can be trimmed to stay small. The leaves are a great scale for the miniature garden. Hardy to -30F, full sun to part sun, great for containers.
Tiny leaves are the perfect scale.
Four different styles, Bambi, Cricket, Peaches & Peanut
A fave color combo!
Great color, a handsome tree, hardy to -20F
That little guy in the miniature, miniature garden, is from the model railroad hobby. These days, you might find them under "terrarium figures" or similar. The barbecue was planted with Sedum Cuttings. Unfortunately
the dog, the birdhouse and the chair have been discontinued. (The best time to buy a miniature is when you see it 'cause you never know when they'll stop making it. Speaking from experience - I'm still kicking myself that I didn't keep a wee dog for me!)

ABOUT OUR SHIPPING:
All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping
calculator can - if we can save you money on shipping, we will.
