Hi ,
We hope this finds you well, safe and in good spirits wherever you are!
With the weird weather happening just about everywhere, I'm grateful to finally have some dry weather here in Seattle and - I'm doing the happy dance! The studio has finally dried-out from the record-breaking rain-snow-ice-more-rain phase that we've been in for months. AND NOW I can get back into the studio to play! Yay!
In this Gazette you'll find my 'Gal-entine' miniature garden that was planted in 2019. I've included some photos with notes in between then and now, so you can see how gently these miniature gardens grow.
SOMETHING NEW: Get your FREE VALENTINE DIY GARDEN ART KIT with every order over $20 this week or until supplies last. It's great for the kiddos too! Oh, and that January Sale is ending soon to you might want to take advantage of BOTH while you can. See our New and Back in Stock Section here. See the front of the store with all the departments listed on the left here.
Grab a cuppa and enjoy! Don't forget about your BFFs this Valentine's Day too! I find they're the ones that understand us the best.
Stay safe. And whatever you do, please make it fun and safe for everyone,
Janit Calvo, Head MG, Owner

ABOVE: This miniature garden was planted in winter of 2019. This photo was taken today. I've shown the growth details below along with the plant info.
Planted in November of 2019 - I had plans to sell miniature gardens for the holidays that year but they fell
through, so the garden is still here and doing well. The wee tree is a Just Dandy Hinoki Cypress (Chameacyparis obtusa 'Just Dandy') - it started as a globe-shaped shrub and, left to grow on its own, it's turning into a miniature tree. The pot is almost 9 inches across and about 6 inches deep.
From 2020 - The bedding plants: the rosettes are Dwarf London Pride Saxifrage (Saxifraga x ubrium 'London
Pride') and it looks like some Baby Tears are growing along side it. That's our favorite Dwarf Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonica 'Nana') on the right. The St. Francis figure is 3 ½" tall.
TIP: You can see the "boulder" nestled into the garden back just behind the tree. I've matched the color of the rock to the color of the patio stones. Adding "large" rocks to the miniature garden bed does the same thing as they do in full-size: it creates age and stability to the overall garden design and adds a different texture and color for variety and interest. It's one
of my favorite "tricks" for the miniature garden that's really not a trick at all. :o)
"Before" the clean-up, January, 2022 - I missed the fall clean-up on this garden so you can see the natural
die-back on the cypress as well as the "exfoliation" of the Dwarf London Pride Saxifrage. It took about 20 minutes to carefully snip off all the brown leaves and branches from the cypress and saxifrage. The brown-blades of the Dwarf Mondo Grass come out with a gentle tug.
You can see the moss has found the patio on the right. It'll just get mossier from here, go dormant in the summer and come back in the fall. It's one of the unexpected delights when using our Mini Patio Mix Kit to install your custom patios that won't wash away when you water, won't erode in the rain and it gives you a place to place furniture to have more fun in your
miniature garden!
~~~
Customize and Personalize - You know a miniature garden can brighten someone's day but a PERSONALIZED miniature garden gift is especially
thoughtful!
- The wee rock was spray-painted white, then I used markers to color it.
ABOUT OUR SHIPPING:
We Ship Internationally (- but not the plants!)
All shipping costs are checked by Steve and we refund any savings promptly because of our wide range of unique inventory: we ship tiny miniatures, heavy patio materials and living plants, sometimes the automatic shipping calculator "packs" the order in multiple boxes which costs more. Steve can pack better than any online shipping calculator can - if we can
save you money on shipping, we will.
We appreciate and serve everyone regardless of race, color,
gender, politics, religion or who they love.
Viva la difference!
If we were all the same, the world would be a
very, very boring place to live.
We believe in Oneness, Kindness & Love.
